The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) is a union representing actors performing in radio, television, and new media (e.g., Internet). It has traditionally had jurisdiction over television programs recorded on analog video, leaving those recorded on film to its sister union, SAG, but the widespread use of high-definition digital video in television and the explosion of original content for new media has led to a great deal of overlap in the two union's jurisdiction.
