Terminology: “Cross”

A cross is simply the movement of an actor from one position to another.

An arc or banana is a curved cross.

A counter or counter cross is a movement made to maintain balance in a scene or to preserve audience sight lines. For instance, if the scene calls for one actor to cross to the left to open the door, another actor may counter by moving to the right.
